About NUS HO

NUS Harmonica Orchestra was formed in 1981, and has since matured from a modest group to its current sttrength of over 60 members. NUSHO plays light-classical, pop, folk and traditional music from both East and West.

NUSHO employs a diverse variety of harmonicas, ranging from the better-known chromatic harmonicas to bass and polyphonic harmonicas. In addition, the piano, guitar, flute, cello and percussion instruments feature prominently in many of its performances.

NUSHO graduated from joint performances with the NUS Rondalla and the NUS Guitar Ensemble in the early eighties to give its inaugural Soiree Concert in 1988. NUSHO and its ensembles have also performed at university function under the ExxonMobil Campus Concert series and at outdoor venues such as Clarke Quay and the Botanical Gardens.

NUS Harmonica Orchestra Logo
The logo as a whole, with the colours of fire, takes a "torch" form, and represents the dynamism of the orchestra.

The logo is made up of 2 pairs of crescent-shaped cusps, each pair representing the postures of the hands when playing the harmonica.

These also depict the willingness of the members to work "hand in hand" to take the orchestra to greater heights.

The crescent shape cusps signify the young orchestra.
